Dr. Matthieu Rouffet
Dr. Matthieu Rouffet is the Dean of the School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics at Point Loma Nazarene University. Originally from France, he earned his Ph.D. in pharmaceutical chemistry from the University of Reims before moving to San Diego for a postdoctoral fellowship at UCSD, focusing on developing inhibitors for biologically relevant targets. With a passion for innovation in drug discovery, Dr. Rouffet emphasizes the importance of critical thinking and character in education, inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s philosophy. He has spent 13 years at PLNU, preparing students for future scientific challenges. His previous roles include Post-Doctoral Associate at UCSD, Graduate Researcher at the University of Reims, and Undergraduate Researcher at the University of York. Dr. Rouffet’s research involves synthesizing and evaluating metal-binding inhibitors for diseases like anthrax, malaria, and tuberculosis. He holds memberships in the American Chemical Society and was previously part of the French Chemical Society.
